Simin Keramati's 'Water'

Below you'll find Water, a short conceptual film by artist Simin Keramati. Part of her Four Elements series, the video may be viewed separately, as here, or projected in a gallery at the same time as the others: Earth, Wind, and Fire

Much of Keramati's art features her own body and face, which she uses to address (she uses the word "interpret") sociopolitical themes and struggles as artist, person, and woman. A profound sense of loss of personal identity and references to oppression, violence, and destruction are especially strong.

Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1970, Keramati is represented by Etemad Gallery and Mark Hachem Gallery. See images of Keramati's acrylics on canvas from her excellent Insomnia project at Etemad and her mixed-media works at Mark Hachem. Other work is online at artclvb. Images of Keramati's paintings, drawings, video installations, and digital prints may be viewed at her Website's gallery.
