Wanted: Your Moment of Compassion

Look into your own heart, discover what it is that gives you pain
and then refuse, under any circumstance whatsoever,
to inflict that pain on anybody else.
~ Karen Armstrong

I first wrote about religious scholar Karen Armstrong's Charter for Compassion in November 2009 (view post). More than 85,000 people around the world have signed the charter, affirming their belief that our acts of compassion "can break down political, dogmatic, ideological and religious boundaries" and offer a "path to enlightenment" and peace.

A new initiative is now underway: Assignment Compassion, which invites you to share via video a moment of compassion that changed your life. In the video below, Jason Grenier explains the project:

Record your story and post your response to FaceBook. Then go affirm the Charter and practice some compassion!

The charter has been translated into more than 30 languages. Go here to read the document.

This sounds really cool. I would take part, but I don't use Facebook or Twitter or YouTube.

That quote struck with such force.
